It’s May 31st, 2025, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad—lights everywhere, cameras flashing, the whole nine yards. And boom, Opal Suchata from Thailand bags the Miss World crown. First time ever for Thailand! Wild, right?
Honestly, the Miss World thing is kind of a big deal, like, top-shelf glam. Think of it as the Olympics of pageantry. All these insanely talented, drop-dead gorgeous women from every corner of the planet showing up on the world stage.
Miss World 2025
The grand finale of the competition had featured 108 contestants from around the world, each presenting their beauty, intelligence and grace. Opal Suchata stood out amongst the many beauties on the day of finale. Her poise and elegance stood for her, but her intelligence and stand for social issues won it for her.
The event was co-hosted by former Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle and Indian presenter Sachin Kumbhar, with multiple performances from Bollywood stars like Jacquiline Fernandez and Ishaan Khatter.Opal recieved the prestigious crown from Miss World 2024 Krystyna Pyzszkova of Czech Republic. The first runner up was Hasset Derje of Ethiopia and followed by Maja Klajda pf Poland and Aureilie Joachim of Martinique.
Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri?
Opal was born on 20th September 2003 in Phuket, Thailand. She is currently a student, pursuing a degree in Political Science from Thammasat University. She is fluent in English, Thai and Chinese.
Opal’s inspiring journey from humble background in Phuket to winning Miss World has been of resilience and determination. At the age of 16 she overcame from tumor diagnosis, experience that made her strong and inspired her to launch “OpalForHer”. This is a social initiative which is aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting the survivors.
A Multifaceted Talent
Beyond her academic and social work pursuits, Opal is known for her talents and interests. She is an empathetic person and an animal lover, she shares her home with 16 cats and 5 dogs.
Opal had earlier participated in pageant – Miss Universe Thailand 2024, where she secured 3rd place. Her decision to compete in Miss World sparked some controversy due to some contractual obligations with Miss Universe Organization which further led to her disqualification.
