And during the Kargil War, he and his team ambushed many Pakistani soldiers while they were trying to cross the Indian borders. In May 1999, during the Kargil War, Captain Kalia led a patrol to Bajrang Post to investigate Pakistani intrusions. He and his team were ambushed, captured, and subjected to horrific torture for 22 days before their deaths.
