The story begins with Deepak, a young man, marrying Phool. They embark on their journey to Deepak’s house, but destiny has other plans.
While traveling on the train, they encounter other newly married couples in their compartment. One common detail about all the brides is that they wear long veils, or “ghunghats.”
The plot takes a turn when Deepak uses the restroom. Phool switches places with someone else on the train. Even after returning, Deepak doesn’t notice anything and settles back for the rest of the journey.
At midnight, when they reach their station, Deepak wakes up Jaya (mistaking her for Phool) and rushes out of the train.
Jaya perceives this as an escape and follows Deepak without a word. When they arrive at his home, the family is shocked to see Jaya instead of Phool. Panic and confusion engulf everyone. Where is Phool? Who is this girl? These questions cloud their minds.
Jaya introduces herself as Pushpa to the family and explains the accidental switch. Deepak blames himself for the situation and sets out to find his real wife.
Meanwhile, Phool, mistaken for Jaya by her new husband, is told to get off the train. Soon, she realizes Deepak is missing when she comes down. She desperately searches for him on the entire platform.
Both Deepak and Phool spend days searching for each other. Pushpa (Jaya) enjoys her stay at Deepak’s house, making new friends and engaging with everyone. Deepak seeks help from the police but finds no leads.
The next twist involves Jaya’s husband, who also begins searching for her. Hiding from her family and abusive husband, she tries to avoid the police but is unsuccessful.
The inspector becomes suspicious of her after observing her using a phone and engaging in various activities at the market. He notices her sending a money order and selling her gold jewelry to arrange funds. The inspector suspects her of being a thief, and his suspicions are confirmed when Jaya’s photo is faxed from another station.
With proof in hand, he arrests Jaya. Meanwhile, Deepak continues to worry about Phool and relentlessly searches for her.
Phool, on the other hand, meets Chotu, a tea stall worker, who takes her to Manju Mai. Manju Mai provides her with food and a job until she recalls the name of her village. Pateela station becomes her temporary home where she lives and works for a few days. Manju Mai teaches her the importance of financial independence.
Back at Deepak’s house, Jaya devises a clever escape plan for the night. However, upon seeing Deepak’s worry for Phool, she changes her mind and decides to help him. She makes missing posters for Phool and distributes them in nearby areas.
The next day brings yet another twist. The police arrive at Deepak’s house to arrest Jaya. She tries to explain the truth, but Deepak misunderstands her, and she is taken away. He soon learns about Jaya’s plan to find Phool and rushes to the police station to discover the truth.
At the station, Jaya reveals her story. She explains how her poor farmer mother forced her to marry Pradeep, demanding a large dowry. She planned to escape to study agriculture and help her mother financially. Her goal was to improve her life. She sent money to her sister for education and other expenses. Initially intending to leave the previous day, she stayed back to help Deepak.
Suddenly, they realize someone might have called Jaya’s phone with information about Phool.
Back at Pateela station, Phool experiences extreme excitement when someone shows her and Manju Mai the missing poster. The name of her village, Surajmukhi, finally resurfaces in her memory. The train conductor at Pateela station helps Phool board a train to Deepak’s village, reuniting her with him.
At the police station, Deepak and the others notice 18 missed calls on Jaya’s phone. They urgently call the number back and discover that Phool is at Pateela station, but the call quality is poor due to background noise. Deepak pleads with the inspector to release Jaya. However, the inspector remains determined to return Jaya to her husband and sends them away.
They rush to the station to board a train to Pateela but find it has already departed. Just when they’re about to leave, Deepak hears his name in a familiar voice.
Yes! The moment arrives. Deepak finally sees Phool after days of searching. They run towards each other and embrace in a heartwarming reunion.
Meanwhile, a one-sided love story blooms. Pradeep arrives at the station to take Jaya back. He slaps and insults her, but just as they’re about to leave, the inspector stops him. The inspector threatens Pradeep, forcing him to let Jaya go and never interfere in her life again. He warns him to stay
