Why is holi celebrated with colours ?

According to Hindu mythology, young Krishna, who had blue skin, complained to his mother about Radha’s fair complexion. Krishna feared that Radha might not talk to him due to the color complexion.
In response, his mother suggested he playfully apply colors on Radha’s face to change her complexion. This playful act evolved into the tradition of applying colors to loved ones during Holi, symbolizing the playful and mischievous nature of Lord Krishna.
The addition of water on holi came in later.
Additionally, holi is also marked as the end of winters and arrival of spring so it is celebrated with vibrant colors as a representation of nature’s rebirth and the blossoming of new beginnings.
